Why Chinese cooking? In Brian's own words:
"Cooking Chinese food has been a favorite hobby of mine for over 20 years. I started to learn how from a couple whom I shared a house with in high school who had recently emigrated from central China. I went on to major in Chinese literature at Reed College and took every opportunity to pick up additional cooking skills from my Chinese neighbors and classmates. After graduation, I moved to Beijing for seven years before returning to DC in 2008. I still cook Chinese regularly at home and achieved my highest cooking honor to date when my five year old son was told that he could eat anything for his birthday and asked for dumplings and shrimp fritters."
